As time passes our skin shows the natural, inevitable signs of aging – wrinkles, sagging, sun damage. But you can counteract those effects with several non-surgical cosmetic procedures available at our practice, including BOTOX ® and injectible fillers such as collagen and Restylane to smooth lines and wrinkles and raise sunken areas; chemical peels to reduce blemishes and scarring and produce fresh, glowing skin; and Thermage for non-invasive skin tightening. Below are some of our procedures.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX®_Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® injections block nerve impulses, weakening muscles to relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.

Retin-A improves skin texture and appearance with a mild Vitamin A peel. It increases the speed with which the surface cells of the skin are replaced. The major benefit is a decrease in the visible damage caused by aging and exposure to sunlight.

Thermage™ is a quick, easy and non-invasive alternative to a face lift. Using painless radiofrequency energy, Thermage "lifts" and tightens loose and sagging skin to restore youthful vigor to patients' faces. The Thermage device stimulates collagen production and temporarily reduces wrinkles while keeping the skin surface cool and comfortable. There is no incision or recovery time. Results last about two years—much longer than you can expect from BOTOX® or tissue fillers like collagen.

Vibradermabrasion is the new way to do microdermabrasion. Vibradermabrasion Therapy produces exfoliation on any part of the body. The process is fast and very comfortable for the patients and produces exceptional results. 75-85% of the stratum comeum is removed in minutes and prepares the skin for many additional procedures such as skin hydration, non-ablative light source treatments (laser, IPL, LED), chemical peel enhancement, topical anesthetic enhancement, levulan enhancement, to name a few.

Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. Peel formulas and strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look. They may be covered by insurance if they are performed for medical rather than cosmetic reasons.

Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHAT or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Restylane maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.

Radiesse® is a safe, next generation cosmetic dermal filler that lasts longer than the former leading filler. A fat transfer can be used to correct skin defects such as deep

furrows and wrinkles on the face and other depressions on other areas of the body. This procedure re-contours the face and corrects facial or body deformities. Both the donor site (area from which fat is taken) and the recipient site (area to be treated) are anesthetized. A needle attached to a syringe is inserted onto the donor site in a location which has a thick layer of fat such as the lower stomach, thigh or buttocks. Fat cells, are aspirated or drawn into the syringe are purified and then carefully re-injected into the recipient site. The process is repeated until the desired amount of fat has been transferred and the defect corrected. A pressure bandage is applied to the donor site and sometimes to the recipient site to prevent blood clots and swelling. It usually requires three fresh fat transfer for full correction.

Spider-vein treatment

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are small, thin, blood vessels visible beneath the skin. They appear most commonly on the face and legs and may look like a series of lines, tree branches, or a spider- or web-like shape with a dark center. It is estimated that they affect nearly half of adult women in the U.S. Spider veins are caused by a variety of factors, including heredity, pregnancy (and other conditions that involve changes in hormone levels), weight gain, long periods of standing, and certain medications. They often appear red or blue, and because they form on the face, thighs, calves and ankles, many patients are bothered by the way they look. Others seek medical treatment for uncomfortable symptoms such as aching, burning, swelling and cramping. The standard treatments for spider veins are sclerotherapy and laser or pulsed light treatments.
